I think I will just start at the beginning and sum it all up until we reach the present. After this post it will feel more like a normal blog. I remember it being a Sunday in November. I'm not too sure which one, but it was definitely a Sunday. That day was full of chaos. It was the day I found out I was pregnant. Being 14 and pregnant is terrifying. Luckily, I have a very supportive family and a very helpful boyfriend. I knew right away abortion was not the road I wanted to go down. It just is not for me.
I remember we went to Planned Parenthood to learn about other options, because I was not old enough to go to the place I wanted to go. I felt like Planned Parenthood was no help at all. The entire time, they were trying to talk me into abortion. I knew right away I would never go back there. My family and I had to figure out our options on our own. So we did. We found out about open adoption and started working with IAC, an open adoption agency.
IAC sent me probably over 30 packets full of information about different adoptive families. After looking through them, I picked my top three. I called the first one on my own and it just didn't feel right. We didn't click. Then I moved on to the second family. That night was perfect. I went over to Jordan, the birth father's, house and we called them together. We were all a little shy and awkward, but we asked the questions we needed and got to know each other a bit. The entire call I was holding Jordan's hand while smiling at him. I could tell this was the perfect family already. After the call Kayt, the adoptive mom, sent me a text that said, "Hi, this is Kayt. In my nervousness, I forgot to tell you that we wish you all the luck in the world with whoever you choose. You're amazing, and we'll keep you in our thoughts and prayers. I would have never gotten that out before, haha." When I got that text, I knew I was going to choose them. Jordan and I both agreed they seem perfect!
We met up with them and my parents in person. Everyone really clicked. After that we "matched". That just means they are the family I am planning on sticking with for the baby. We texted a lot and met up quite a bit. We went shopping. They came to ultrasounds. We had lunch and dinner, and they even met my grandparents!
Today is March 30, 2016 and next weekend I am going to visit them and meet some of their family. They even asked if I would like to stay with them! I am so glad I chose this family. We have already gotten super close and have been through so much together, from finding out the little baby growing in me is a sweet baby girl, to me going through a lot of personal problems. They have been there every step of the way for as long as we have known each other and I could not thank them enough! This truly has turned out to be a blessing.

14 and Pregnant?!
My name is Kate. I am 14 years old and pregnant. When I found out I was pregnant I didn't even know what open adoption was. My parents were both very supportive and helped me to learn my options. I always thought there was only three, abortion, adoption, or keeping the baby. I knew right away abortion was not what I wanted to do and adoption seemed scary. How was I supposed to carry a baby for 9 months than never see the baby again? I couldn't do it. I really wanted to keep the sweet baby and so did the birth father but we are just a couple kids in high school who are financially unstable. We knew we couldn't put the baby through that. Me, the birth father, and my family didn't know what to do. One day after my first ultrasound my mom decided to get some papers about what my options are. My mom came back to the car with a bunch of papers and she looked through them that night. That is when she learned what open adoption is. My mom thought that was what is best and after me and the birth father thought and learned more about it we did too.
So much has happened since the beginning and I will share that all in some later posts but as of this moment I am beginning my 7 months of being pregnant. I have found the perfect family for this perfect child and I cannot wait to share more about it. I don't know how many people will see this but I think that something good comes from everything. I already know something good is coming from this pregnancy. Maybe something good will come from this blog too.
